If you click on the "Hostboard" message just above where our forum starts...letters are posted as to the state of the Hostboard's situation. (currently it reads "the dream is alive")
Here is the current one letter as written the head of PostBoard...
The dream continues....
Dear Members,
We thought that we were going to shut down Hostboard. Really, in my mind, we were going to shut it down. I received an email from one of our members and he decided to purchase Hostboard. We verbally agreed on the conditions of the purchase and here we are, Hostboard is there to stay.
This member is 1QuickSI. You can meet him in the Forced Induction Integra forum which is located in the Car, Hotrods and Trucks category.
Here is what he said to me: he has a server and a fast connection to the internet. He wants to purchase Hostboard and keep it running as it is right now. No major
changes. He has been with us as a member for a while and he likes our philosophy.
This site will keep running on this server until the first week of April. Then, the entire website will be transferred onto the new system and 1QuickSI and his team will
take over the system. Until then, 1QuickSI will be promoted Administrator and he will get to know the ropes.
I personally wish to thank 1QuickSI for getting involved. After speaking with him on
the telephone, I really think that Hostboard is here to stay.
Finally, 1QuickSI told me that he might take time to respond emails that he might receive. But, he will try to respond to everybody.
Let the dream continue?..

Pedro,
I agree. Andreas' site (Shooting 8mm) is a decent alternative. There's also John's Super 8mm Directory forum (which has been very slow to take off, w/ only a few users, including me & Alex). Otherwise, it's a wasteland...
The best of all world's would be capturing the on-going data here at the forum, & transferring it to a new location. But again, can it be done?

I disagree with your assessment of John's site....the talk boards are the most difficult thing to get going....but the site itself is an oppulent source of great super-8 info that grows ever month in info provided.
